How to Become a Pet Sitter in Athens

If you're thinking about becoming a pet sitter on Petit-o, the most useful thing isn't a vague "earn money doing what you love" pitch — it's knowing exactly what you'll go through before you take your first booking.

Your profile gets reviewed, it doesn't switch on automatically

After you create your profile, Petit-o checks it before it's shown to pet parents. You need a photo that clearly shows your face — no logos or promotional material — and a description with enough detail for a pet parent to understand who you are and what you offer. Average approval time is around 2 working days, though it's taken 5–6 in some cases. Until it's approved, your profile stays pending, so it's worth getting it right the first time rather than resubmitting.

A separate step: Stripe verification to actually get paid

Profile approval doesn't automatically mean you're set up to receive payments — that's handled through Stripe Connect. You'll need to enter personal details and a bank account/IBAN, and upload a government ID (ID card, passport, or driving licence, depending on what Stripe accepts). The name and date of birth you enter need to match the document exactly, or verification gets rejected and you'll need to redo it. Stripe may ask for additional information depending on your case.

If your profile is already approved but Stripe verification is still pending, you can generally keep accepting requests — money owed to you isn't lost, it just waits for verification to complete before it's sent.

How requests actually work

Tapping "interested" on a request doesn't mean the booking is yours — it means you want it. The pet parent sees your profile and reviews and makes the call themselves, so it's normal to express interest in more requests than you end up taking. If you already have a booking during a given time period, that doesn't automatically rule out another request for the same window — you can take on overlapping bookings if you can genuinely deliver on both.

When you get paid

Payments for completed services are grouped and sent around the 1st–4th of the following month, for services completed the month before. If Stripe verification isn't finished by then, that payment waits until it is.
